Northwinds Concert Band has been performing concerts throughout the St. Louis area since 1975. Based in Florissant, Missouri, the 60-piece ensemble plays a wide variety of audience-friendly music, featuring light classics, novelty numbers, music from Broadway shows and films, and big band sounds. In 2005, the band performed at music festivals in Germany. The ensemble frequently plays exciting new music from international composers. Larry Marsh has conducted the Northwinds Concert Band for over 35 years. He has led the the German Culture Center at the University of Missouri-St. Louis since 2000. Marsh has degrees in history from Truman State and a Masters in German Literature and Language from the University of New Hampshire. He taught history and humanities in the Ferguson-Florissant School District for 34 years and was named the district’s Teacher of the Year in 1985. He is very active in the local theatrical community and has directed, designed and/or conducted over 100 productions, many of them for Hawthorne Players.
Northwinds Concert Band is a program of the Communications and Marketing Department of Ferguson-Florissant School District.
The Northwinds Band Association, Inc. is an independent organization, dedicated to helping support the Band in its concerts and other activities.
